Range slider question

The range slider question type provides the participant with a simulated analogue slider to answer the question (Figure 1). This question type has the following options:

  • Answer required
  • Show answer required
  • Lower bound label
  • Upper bound label
  • Range minimum
  • Range maximum
  • Step interval
  • Hide slider handle until user input

Hiding the slider handle

Slider handles can be hidden until a participant clicks on the scale (thus avoiding biases, baseline anchoring, priming, etc.). As shown in Figure 2, the scale contains no handle initially. A handle will appear only once a participant clicks somewhere on the scale. See Figure 3 for setting.

Editing the question (questionnaire only)

Click Edit in the top left corner of the question (Figure 3). From here you can edit the question text as well as the answer options and style. To save your changes, click Save in the bottom right corner of the question editor. To cancel your changes, click Cancel

Setting scale bounds labels

Setting lower and upper bounds labels is done by filling in the bounds table (Figure 4) and hitting Save on the bounds table. Remember to also click Save in the bottom right corner of the question editor to save your changes.

Setting scale range and step interval

Setting minimum and maximum range values, and step interval is done by filling in the range table (Figure 4).
